Global Support to Country Actions

At the international level, the UN-REDD Programme seeks to build consensus and knowledge about REDD+. It also provides opportunities for dialogue between governments, civil society organizations and technical experts, to ensure that REDD+ efforts are based on science and take into account the views and needs of all stakeholders. The Global Programme develops common approaches, analyses, methodologies, tools, data and guidelines that facilitate REDD+ readiness work.

The UN-REDD Global Programme work is divided in the following six integrated work areas, designed to support country actions on REDD+:

  • Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) and monitoring
  • Engagement of Indigenous Peoples, civil society and other stakeholders
  • Multiple benefits
  • National REDD+ governance
  • Equitable benefit sharing systems
  • Sectoral transformation

Partnerships
The UN-REDD Programme works closely with the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) and the Forest Investment Program (FIP), in order to streamline support to national REDD+ strategies. Read more on how the UN-REDD Programme is working with the FCPF and FIP, in our joint pamphlet "Working Together for REDD+".

Other important partners of the UN-REDD Programme are the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO).
